I find my friend Chris Caserio to be very quotable. I told him i was going to be his scribe and start writing these things down. Of course, at that moment he stopped being so quotable. But this is what i've collected... on tatoos on women:
"Would you put paint on a Picasso?"
on adopting new technology:
"You have to prove you provide value for your intrusion."
on sex:
"It's not how you do it, it's why you do it."
on adopting new technology:
"Last time i had a hole in my boat i used a cork stopper; now i only have a rubber stopper. Do i let the boat sink, or learn to use the rubber stopper?"
on system integration:
"There is no top and bottom. The database is not 'the bottom'. It is more like currents in a lake then currents in a stream."
On Windows Vista:
"What we achieve is the detritus of what we learn."
On intranet security:
"The idea is that if you can get inside the wall then you are okay. To that end, they keep making the walls higher and thicker, with more portcullises and embrasures.
Actually detecting nefarious activity seems like so much work… Creating policies and making work for employees is much easier, has more visibility, and tickles all kinds of metrics."
