May 23, 2011 | I have adopted, cleaned up, and published a version of jIBS, a tool that runs a clone of the FIBS server. |
April 8, 2011 | I bought an SSL certificate from StartSSL. We had been running a self-signed cert for years (can't be sending webapp ldap passwords in cleartext) but grew weary of accepting the bogus cert all of the time. |

I renamed 201 .html files to .php .
The files have been php for years, but eclipse is much happier
editing php if the extension is .php .

September 4, 2010 | This web site doesn't totally suck on an iPhone. |

I wanted to get a bit of handle on all the pages on this site, so i wrote
WebController, a java program to let me build and manage a tree/linked list
representation of my web site. I want to be able to browse the web site like a book;
click, click, scroll, click. You can read the bulk of this site without
having to move the mouse.
The "compass" on the upper left of this page will take you through all of the pages in a linked list path. The new sitemap is a tree view of the path. (with java emitting php and javascript :)) |

This server was hacked by
Tr0rradeirra.
Nobody knows how. Analysis shows it seems to come from Brazil. None of the
theories fits my situation (i don't run phpBB or any of that).
In a fit, i reformatted the hard disk and went back to Slackware. I prefer slackware
because i can build and maintain the pieces. SuSE was great for that point-and-click
upgrade stuff, but i am more or less at their mercy for what they upgrade.
So i slaughtered my own web server. This means many things don't work right now while i scrounge for time to rebuild them. I did initiate a nuclear death feature on my network. If you perform certain operations on any machines on my network, the firewall gets notified and you get blocked... fully...permanently. You can't even send me mail saying oops. Here is a partial list of offenses:
